Cost of Passage

  • All normal and essential on-board expenses, including accommodation, food, protective clothing and uniforms, educational, medical and dental, and living expenses are covered in the Unified Cost of Passage charge. This is paid by the Foundation in the case of a Fellow, by the Seastead as part of an employment package for Crew, by the sponsoring institution for Passengers, or by the individual if a tourist or unsponsored visitor.
  • In line with Seastead policy to encourage the presence aboard of the children of crew and passengers, the cost of passage for eligible children of residents is spread as an overhead over the cost of passage of all adults. So there is no separate charge for children accompanying adult residents while aboard the Seastead.
  • Because normal living expenses are covered by the charge, the on-board financial life of crew and passengers is pretty simple. The only things that need to be paid for are luxuries and personal items, and off-board transactions like communications and subscriptions, beyond those provided.
